Civil War / Soldiers & Sailors Monument

New Brunswick’s Civil War Monument was erected in 1893, known as the Soldiers & Sailors Monument remains an icon in Monument Square. Its inscription reads as follows: “Erected by the people of New Brunswick in memory of the brave soldiers and sailors who fought in defense of the Union during the War of the Rebellion/Williamsburg – Antietam – Fredericksburg – New Bern – Atlanta – Gettysburg – Winchester – Appomattox/Erected 1893.”
