    Alfa Art Gallery is 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization determined to support the artistic community. The Alfa Art Gallery believes that Visual Art is the ultimate form of communication and is therefore universal in its expression. The Alfa Art Gallery mission is to support emerging and well established artists and to give their work exposure and a critical following within the art community. The Alfa Art Gallery goal is to conduct local, national and international art exhibitions including: oil color, water color, mixed media, sculptures, photography, crafts and glass works. Alfa Art gallery also works as an open art studio – gallery. The exhibiting artists can demonstrate their creative process in the gallery and collectors and gallery visitors can follow and learn about their technique, style and motivation. Alfa Art gallery plays a vital role among visual-arts organizations locally, nationally and internationally by exhibiting, initiating, supporting, presenting, and preserving artists’ work, and by serving as a locus for interdisciplinary art and criticism.

    We at the Edison Arts Society (EAS) are proud to salute new beginnings, continuing to usher in our Second Decade with all of our members, friends and supporters, and the new ones to come. You are all the contributors and heirs of what wonderful successes have been accomplished at EAS, as well as what wonders can be achieved in the years ahead. All of our citizens, whether young or old, benefit from the many programs the Edison Arts Society has to offer. It is a valuable asset not only to the local community but to the state.

    The Robert E. Lee Civil War Round Table of Central NJ is dedicated to the study preservation and discussion of events and people that were part of this period in our nations history.
  • South Plainfield Historical Society

    The South Plainfield Historical Society, founded in 1977 as a non-profit 501c3, collects and manages a repository of local historical material in its History Center headquarters at Highland Woods Nature Reserve, 115 Sylvania Place, So. Plainfield. The Center, an ADA accessible facility at the Borough-owned environmental education reserve,  is open once a month (currently the first Saturday of the month from 11 am to 1 pm) to society members and the general public at no charge. Monthly membership meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. The public is welcome to attend. The History Center’s collection includes wall displays, photographs, maps, newspapers, vintage clothing, memorabilia, scrapbooks and a non-lending library. The Historical Society also maintains a Facebook page with postings of photographs and stories from So. Plainfield’s past.

    The South River Historical & Preservation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing and preserving the proud history of South River for future generations. The South River Museum – Old School Baptist Church is a museum of South River history. Exhibits include all aspects of Borough history including: schools; people; churches and houses of worship; local businesses and organizations; daily life; events and celebrations; and more.

    The Barron Arts Center has been housed in the former Barron Library since 1977, when the library operation moved to a new building. The handsome brownstone was constructed in 1877 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style and its construction was funded by a bequest from township native Thomas Barron. In addition to its decorative exterior, the interior exhibits decorative tiles, and exposed vaulted ceilings and ornamental stained glass windows. The center hosts exhibits, concerts, and classes for 3,000 participants annually.
