The New Jersey-based University of the Philippines Alumni and Friends Rondalla (UPAFR) promotes Philippine cultural heritage, through propagating the tradition of the Filipino rondalla as a native string ensemble. Fourteen-stringed instruments such as the bandurria, laud and octavina provide the melody and countermelody, while the guitars provide the rhythm.

Since 1992, this nonprofit organization has spread its mission within the United States and overseas. The UPAFR presents educational music programs that integrate Philippine history, customs and traditions. Its repertoire includes folk and contemporary melodies from various countries, Broadway themes, hymns, and light classical music.

The group regularly performs at concert theaters, government social functions, cultural festivals at community events, churches, and schools.
